My Mother's Baked Custards

Organic milk, local eggs, and nutmeg make this a highly restorative food.  My mother made it whenever one of her children was sick.

6 slightly beaten eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 quart milk, scalded
1 tsp vanilla
Freshly grated nutmeg

Beat eggs.  Add sugar and salt.  Stir in scalded milk, whisking to mix quickly.  Pour in custard cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg.   Set in a  13 x 9 pan that has been filled to 1/3 with hot water.  Bake at 325 F for 30-40 minutes until custards shimmy slightly.  Eat warm or cold.  Makes 6-8 servings.

  1. Dear Anonymous, the one who mentioned Nash

What you wrote is too obscure to offend me. I do think, however, it is ill-mannerd and cowardly to hide behind the cloak of Anonymity when you refer to me by name. I sense you are too Intelligent and Sensitive not to grasp this.

Could it be you fear anyone bearing the Last Name of Nash could be easily provoked to violence, given what you know about our Dark History of being wanted by the FBI?

Don't worry - not only have you not come close to offending me, I belong to the peace-loving branch of the family! But peace-loving as we are, I'm afraid we Nashes are bull dogs when it comes to manners - so I really must Insist you abandon your cover and identify yourself. Otherwise, much as I would like to continue our online Correspondence, I will have to cut you off Forever.

Family History is one of the hobbies I aim to pursue in my retirement. Please also do tell me all about how my namesake fell afoul of the FBI! It has all the makings for a very good story, one I could perhaps dine out on for months.

  2. Just Google Nash, FBI. As to insisting, that is not a trait of good manners, and Dr. Colansantes' privacy is my reason, it has nothing to do with you, or anyone with the last name of Nash. I do not care if you cut me off.

  3. I'm glad you are concerned about Dr. Colasante's privacy, but that is irrelevant. Her name is already publicly attached to this blog and all her posts.

Concealing your name has to do with protecting your privacy, not hers. Obviously. Good bye.

  4. Obviously you need to ask Dr. Colasante who I am, as I stated her privacy is my intention, even though she has this Blog does not mean she wants her life History brought out to whomever you may truly be. Thank you for your understanding.

  5. You are so anonymous that even I don't know who you are, Anonymous. Thank you for doing such a good job at protecting my privacy. I appreciate your concern, although I'm not sure I have a lot to hide at this point, after 185 blogposts. I looked up Nash and FBI and wasn't sure there was anything to implicate people whom I haven't already implicated.

  6. Ona, your hair was so Beautiful with the natural curls. I wonder who convinced you to straiten it? I already know you have nothing to hide, though some in Government are to ignorant to know what they do, or are doing. Love, always.
